Thursday, December 22! Day...the Next One!

 Today marks the last full day of our cruise!  Holy Yikes! How'd we come so fast to the conclusion of our journey?!


We started our day in Passau, which we once again decided to self guide through the town.  It was an early morning stop, and we were pretty confident that the tour of yet another cathedral was going to be geared for an audience that wasn't us.  I'm glad that we chose this process, since we actually ended up having a really good time in town.





 

We were obviously parked right on the Danube, and Bill and I left the boat to walk around down the path along the river.  We finally ventured "inland" and found the walking district of Passau, complete with the cathedral, a Christmas market, and all the goodies that go along with it.  Since the Christmas Market didn't open until 11 (and we had to be back on board by 12...good timing!), we wandered through town and just looked.

As we did, we ran across a store called Milano Mode.  In here, we saw sweaters that were clearly in some kind of Milan fashion show, and Bill loved them.  So, of course, we bought one!

After spending a little more time in town, we ran across a Chocolate Store.  Now, there are plenty of places like The Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory that sell chocolate.  And there are plenty of places that sell candies.  BUT, this was a true Chocolatier, or however you spell it.  They make all their own chocolates in the store.  Of COURSE we bought some.

After buying our Chocolates, we wandered through the now open Christmas Market and then headed back to the boat.  Sadly, it was time to pack up our cabin, and get ready for the final evening of entertainment and then off to our next adventure.



The final evening involved an AMAWaterways Exclusive, Oktoberfest!  We know, it's not October, but...we still went anyways. Well, to be fair - I went.  When I told Bill there were free pretzels, he joined me.  Mom said, "nope.  It's cold out there!"  So she didn't join us.  It was fun, and we had a great time.  From there, our final dinner, and we called a close to our week long Christmas Markets river cruise.

Saturday, December 24! - Christmas Eve!

 Waking up in Innsbruck for the first time was amazing!  We texted mom and made sure she was up, and met her downstairs for breakfast.  We opted to add on the morning breakfast at the hotel, which was a good idea since it was a full continental breakfast along with an option of eggs.  Bill and I ordered scrambled, Mom ordered over easy. As we all speak perfectly fluent German, or Deutsch, and the waitstaff spoke perfect English, we all got eggs over easy.  Yum.  Just what the doctor ordered.  Bill and I finished up our breakfast, and then confirmed with mom that she did not want to go out and see the town.  We grabbed our stuff, and set off for a good walk. Monday, December 26 - Too many days to count

Last night was not a great night.  Let's just be honest, and call a spade a spade.  Bill is sick.  Mom is sick and tired of traveling.  I slept like crap, between Bill's cough, and worrying about a repeat train ride.  Stressed is a major under statement. Now, the night before I had secretly gone out on one of my new scooters and stopped at the train station to ensure that we did, in fact, have tickets.  They printed them out, on paper, and gave them to me. So I was confident we were in the right spot.  We got to the station WAY early, because I wanted to make sure we had enough time to get to where we were going, mom included.  You'll note above, that Bill is wearing (kind of) a mask for our protection.  I think he was so stressed about coughing on the train that he opted to play it safe and wear the mask. Tuesday, December 13, Day 2 - Part 2!

 Alright folks!  We finally made it to London!  Now, it's just a short train ride to Paddington Square, and we're a hop, skip, and a jump away from our Aparthotel!  Woo hoo!   Before we get there, I think I left off with our excitement on the plane, or rather, our excitement getting OFF the plane.  I dilly dallied my way out of my pod, and finally caught the attention of one of the Flight Attendants.  Upon inquiry, there were actually TWO separate medical emergencies, and then ONE "other" emergency that required the Police presence.  I guess the kid decided that pills and alcohol on a plane were a good combination.  Whoops! Once Bill and I made it onto the gangway, we found mom with her young, strong, British ginger and a wheelchair.  We joined forces and made our way off the gangway and into the airport.  However, the Ginger and Mom went to the lifts, while Bill and I made our way down the escalator and towards Border Patrol....
